Guardrail

Freestanding Guardrail

Easyguard is permanent freestanding handrail for both retrofit and new build. Easyguard is a non-penetrative freestanding system alleviating the need for weatherproofing costs and eliminating the risk of future leaks associated with penetrative systems. Easyguard is flatfooted and slides easily underneath rooftop obstructions therefore providing minimal trip hazard.

Easyguard is galvanised to BS/EN 1461, and is also available powder coated. Easyguard's base plates are fitted with bonded ribbed rubber mats, which include an EPDM foam infill. The foam infill reduces heat transference to the roof membrane therefore reducing membrane degradation. Easyguard is adjustable by up to 250mm, and is levelled to the line of the building and against the falls of the roof improving the aesthetics from ground level.

Easyguard is ideal for perimeter hand railing or for designation of access ways (escape routes etc).

Easyguard Specification:

  1. Easyguard Permanent Free Standing Handrails are fully tested to Health and Safety Specialist Report 15,Sept 1988, handrails, maintenance uses only, BS6399 buildings and loads.
  2. They are fully galvanised to BS/EN 1461 1999.
  3. All base plates are fitted with bonded ribbed rubber mat with EPDM foam in-fill to reduce heat transference onto roof membranes, which can lead to roof membrane degradation.
  4. The flat base plate - reduces the trip hazard and improves point loading onto roofs.
  5. All fittings used on systems are composed of heavy-duty malleable cast iron with stainless steel grub screws for extended life.
  6. All grub screws in base plates used for adjustment of the posts and other fixings into metalwork are A2 stainless steel.
  7. The system is installed with 250mm of adjustment on each leg to allow the rails to be levelled with the up-stand or parapet.
  8. The heavy-duty base plate is designed to be easily removed for access to the roof membrane for maintenance or repair without the need to dismantle sections of rail. The major advantage of this is that the roof remains guarded at all times.
  9. Leg assemblies are at a maximum of 2m centres.
  10. The system can be installed in reverse for unobstructed walkways.
  11. The system can be terminated with either counterweights or 2m return ends where wall fixings cannot be used.
  12. Powder coating over galvanising includes Mordant wash treatment followed by rinse, then powder coating to ensure that the coating sticks and the system is corrosion resistant.
